We welcome Duke of Edinburgh groups to Lockerbrook!

2025 – We will be open from Friday 28 March until Friday 31 October 2025. The cost per person per night is as follows,

  • £6.75 for VAT exempt youth groups and schools/pupils booking directly.
  • £8.00 for all companies booking as their agents (regardless of a company’s VAT registration).

We normally only provide unsupported (no vehicle) camping facilities for young people on expedition working towards their Gold, and Silver awards. We will take up to 25 young people from multiple groups, or slightly more if from one panel, school or organisation. Please contact us by email if you would like us to accommodate a larger group.

We are sometimes able to host Bronze groups and visiting leaders or assessor’s vehicles but only by prior arrangement.

Charges

Bookings and payments are made via the booking app on this page. If you are unable to make a payment via our booking system, please let us know and we can arrange a different method.

What facilities are available?

We have a single campers toilet and sink (for personal washing) accessible through the bottom gate from the field. There are no camping showers on site. There are pot-washing sinks in a shelter just across the car park and through the top Centre gate.

Terms and conditions of use

The camping field is attached to Lockerbrook Residential Education Centre which is booked separately by other groups. The facilities in the Centre are for the sole use of the group hiring the Centre and not available for DofE groups. DofE groups should not take shortcuts through the courtyard of the Centre when going to the toilet or camper sink.

The car park adjacent to the Centre is for the sole use of any group hiring the centre. However, there is limited parking before Lockerbrook just before the Locker Brook goes under the track. Please use this lay by for parking. If you need to drop anything off at the field then do drive up to it, but please move the vehicle back to the lay-by when you have off loaded.

Leaders with vehicles must contact us in advance to be sure that we can arrange parking for you.
