Lockerbrook Farm Outdoor Centre is situated high above the Derwent Valley and Ladybower Reservoir. Commanding stunning views across the valley to Derwent Edge, we really are in the middle of nowhere. Our nearest neighbour is a mile away and when you stay at Lockerbrook you can be certain that your group will be the only group at the centre during your stay, enjoying exclusive use of our accommodation and facilities, whether you are staying for a week or just a weekend. With no one else around you can make the centre your own during your stay.
Our normal bookings are Monday 11am to Friday 11am and Friday 7pm to Sunday 2pm, but we do vary these timings to meet group needs.
Whilst being the only group resident at the centre, we do have staff on-site during the week to support groups, as well as wardens at weekends to meet group needs (staff and wardens have separate accommodation adjacent to the centre).
We also support the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) expedition programme (mainly Gold level, but some Silver too) and small groups of DofE campers on unsupported expeditions will occasionally use one of our fields as a makeshift campsite (separate facilities are provided for them).
We have 38 beds, mainly in bunk style accommodation. Most of our beds are in the East Barn where we also provide showers and drying room facilities. A layout of our accommodation is available on our Booking Documentation page
Our facilities have been developed to ensure they meet the needs of groups visiting the centre: we have a large kitchen and dining area, fully-equipped for our catering service but also available to self-catered groups. In our West Barn we have an enormous activity room with lounge area, a splendid wood burning stove, plenty of seating and two full-size table tennis tables.
All rooms are centrally heated, and fuel is included in your booking fee. We also provide kindling and locally sourced logs for the stove.
Bedding is also provided, as is everything you need to wash up (tea towels, washing up liquid, scourers and dish cloths). We encourage groups to recycle and to take recycling home or drop it off on the way at the many Peak District recycling centres (we even provide the bags and a map to help you do this).

Making life easier
We run Lockerbrook on hostel lines and encourage groups to cooperate to help with food service, washing up and cleaning the centre before departure. We do recognise this isn’t for everyone, and sometimes your programme is so full and busy that it isn’t practical either.
If you want help with cleaning and washing up do tell us – we are happy to supply this service, but we do charge extra.
Waterproofs, boots and backpacks
These are available in most sizes and the charge for borrowing items is included in the booking fee if you have booked catering and activities. For other groups items can be hired for £3.50 per day.
